Wigan University Technical College is a new concept in vocational education for Year 10 and Year 12 pupils. We provide a unique academic and specialist education experience to 14-19 year olds in the region. Working alongside our partners, including employers, The University of Central Lancashire and STEGTA, we blend traditional academic excellence with pioneering engineering opportunities that will prepare students for the workplace and University. The UTC specialises in engineering and environmental technologies and has state of the art facilities, including a process hall for food manufacturing and the world’s first elevated vertical farm system in an urban environment.
STEGTA is supporting the UTC with curriculum development to ensure that young people upon leaving the UTC have the relevant skills and experience needed in the engineering and food manufacturing industries.
STEGTA continues to build relations with Wigan UTC and now also has access to training facilities with the University Technical College to deliver a wider range of qualifications, including Electrical & Electronic units and Welding & Fabrication in the future.
