Dylan Atherton – STEGTA Excellence Award Winner 2022

We would like to Congratulate Dylan Atherton who is employed by Essity, as he has been awarded a STEGTA Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in The STEGTA Training Centre for Unit AUEC2-005 – Producing Components Using Hand Fitting Techniques.

Dylan is currently working towards the Level 2 Engineering Operative Standard and we asked him why he chose a career in engineering:

‘I have always wanted to do engineering from a young age, so I am appreciative of this award as it gives me the motivation to continue pushing myself. I’ve always loved the ‘hands on’ practical nature of engineering and the challenges it can bring to you on a day to day basis.

During my time at STEGTA I have learnt a lot from the Training Instructors. Their knowledge has helped me to grow and understand engineering techniques at a much higher level. I have been able to use this to enhance my knowledge in the work place and have developed my problem solving skills.

At Essity I enjoy the challenge of working with different types of machinery and therefore enjoy the challenge each piece of equipment can bring. Once I have completed my Level 2 Apprenticeship, I would like to push my career further, whether that be a higher level qualification or pushing to a higher role within work with new challenges.’
