wellacre-football-team

Coinciding with the partnership we have with Wellacre Technology School, STEGTA are proud to announce the sponsorship of the Wellacre Academy Sixth Form football team. They have been entered in to the British Colleges Elite League, region 5 and are currently in 6th place in the league. This is their first year competing and the majority of the squad are 17 year olds playing against Under 21’s.

Individually, some of the players have also achieved representative honours, 4 boys selected to represent Greater Manchester County Under 18’s Nick Haughton, Mark Derbyshire, Lincoln Gidley and David Brown. Three of those boys were selected for England trials with Nick Haughton making it to the final trial of 18 players in February 2013.

The future is looking bright for the squad and they are busy recruiting players/students for next year. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season!
