STEGTA EXCELLENCE AWARD – Adam Worsley

We would like to Congratulate Adam Worsley who is employed by Emerson Automation Solutions in Worsley, as he has been awarded the STEGTA Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in Performing Engineering Operations. Tony Locke and Mentor Dave Jones of Emerson and STEGTA Training Officer Ian Coward are pictured here with Adam.

We asked Adam how he felt about winning the award:

“Winning the STEGTA Excellence award was a complete surprise to me. To be presented with this award is a huge honour and would not of been possible without the support of STEGTA and my employer. My training officer, Ian Coward, has been extremely helpful in the progression of my skills and abilities since day one of my Apprenticeship. I couldn’t thank him enough for all the assistance he has given me. I have now worked across all departments at Emerson and have received support from many staff, allowing me to develop as a Trainee Engineer and enhance my skills in a safe environment.

Before working at Emerson I completed over 3 months training at the STEGTA Training Centre. Here I carried out a number of Turning, Milling, Hand fitting, and Welding operations. One particular project I am proud of is the turner’s cube I made. I would like to thank Dave Harrison and many people at STEGTA for training me to become the Apprentice I am today.

I am currently coming up to the end stages of my Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Engineering and my Level 3 NVQ. I intend to begin my HNC in the upcoming months and have future plans of studying at Degree level after I have completed my Advanced Apprenticeship”.

STEGTA Training Instructor Dave Harrison commented: “Adam completed his PEO Level 2 units at the STEGTA Training Centre at the start of his Apprenticeship. Adam was always punctual and well-mannered has shown a keen interest in the mechanical principles of engineering. This in turn helped him gain the necessary skills set to produce a high standard of work, exceeding the levels required for this qualification. Adam successfully completed all the assessment work for the PEO units and then progressed onto being stretched and challenged into making additional components and assemblies on the Lathe and Milling machine. Including a turner’s Cube and a Micro Steam engine replica. In addition to this he has also completed MIG welding to Level 2 standard”. Well done Adam!
