Max Bennett Stegta Awards

We would like to Congratulate Max Bennett who is employed by Roechling Fibracon Ltd in Derbyshire, as he has been awarded the STEGTA Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in Engineering Technical Support. We asked Max how he felt about winning the award:
“I was very surprised and very happy to hear I had been awarded the STEGTA Excellence Award 2018 for Engineering Technical Support!”

“My Training Officer, Stuart Priestley, who nominated me for this award has really helped me over the last few years during my Apprenticeship. He has encouraged me to get my work in on time to ensure I complete timely and my work doesn’t pile up. My employer has also supported me by giving me time during working hours to do my write ups and questions so I can use inspiration from around the work place.

I have worked on a few projects, but my favourite one was sorting out the CNC CMM and Manual CMM programs and getting them into an order that people could find and understand what each one does. This is still in use now so I feel my hard work has paid off and contributed towards making the work shop more efficient.

In the future, I would like to get further training for all machines in the work shop so I can program and set all around the factory, helping out when needs be”.

STEGTA Training Officer Stuart Priestley commented: “Max started at Roechling Fibracon in 2013 and started on an Advanced Apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.

He worked through his College and PEO work, but was struggling to get onto the machines to learn the CNC side of the company. Max’s programme was changed to Engineering Technical Support on the CMM (Coordinate Measurement machines) unit as this is where the company had a requirement and very few people knew how to work the CMM. Max was taught how to do the programmes and set them up and proved to be invaluable in this area. Max was soon able to prove his competence and quickly completed his NVQ.

Max now runs the CMM section and has also taken part in the Mentor Training provided by STEGTA. Well done on what you have accomplished Max!”
