STEGTA Training Officer Job Role

Contract Status: Permanent


Job Purpose
Responsible for delivering of a quality learning experience to all individuals accessing programmes of learning through direct delivery by STEGTA, ensuring each individual achieves their Standard/learning aim as detailed on their individual learning plan whilst maintaining a continuous key account management role with the company.

Scope of Job

  • Responsible for the teaching, learning and assessment of an individual caseload of learners, Apprentices and Classroom based, within a given vocational area.
  • Responsible for the achievement of their individual learning plan and the account management of the individual company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with company personnel, where appropriate, to develop a training needs analysis and learning plan for all individual learners.
  • Maintaining all quality assessment systems ensuring current and future standards are implemented immediately.
  • Sign up, induct, train, assess and when appropriate IQA, all learners within the appropriate framework or standards and qualifications throughout their learning journey.
  • Ensure each learner receives a 6 weekly review and paperwork is submitted timely for all monthly reports to be analyised.
  • Instruct, guide and support mixed ability/age groups/individuals on a one-to-one basis and in groups on a roll-on-roll off system.
  • Be fully familiar with content of all courses to facilitate, covering for other members of the team, when required.
  • Plan, update and write appropriate course material to meet individual needs, awarding organisations standards meeting Health & Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Prevent and British Values.
  • Manage and administer the learning of individuals who attend any off-the-job training.
  • Submit accurate and timely information to the Internal Quality Assurer responsible, regarding registration, accreditation, progression and certification of individuals to enable formative and summative quality assurance to be planned.
  • Contribute to the IQA process from a prescribed schedule of quality checks and reporting to the Lead IQA any non-conformances.
  • Consult with the learner and agree a format for assessment of evidence at least on a 4-weekly basis.
  • Assist in the development, support, welfare and discipline of individuals.
  • Assess and submit assignments i.e. technical certificates and standalone qualifications.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, courses and other appropriate events to ensure continuous improvement of programmes and self-development.
  • Ensure KPI targets are met in line with those identified in the Business Plan.
  • Understand and contributed to annual Self-Assessment Report and QIP to maintain a quality provision.
  • Where appropriate update and write appropriate courses to meet awarding organisation standards and the new standards.
  • Manage/organise resources in an open learning environment.
  • Keep appropriate daily records of attendance, learning objectives and progress.
  • Prepare, plan, manage and organise all resources in the learning environment prior to the start and closing of sessions maintaining security.
  • Deliver inductions on various programmes

Key Performance Indicators

  • To work towards Ofsted grade 2 overall
  • Ensure each learner receives a review minimum every 4 weeks and maximum of 12 weeks
  • No more than 5% of learner cohort to be passed their planned end date
  • Retention rates to be no less than 85%

TAQA assessor qualification or equivalent  
TAQA Internal Quality Assurer or equivalent or working towards  
Vocational teaching qualification level 4 minimum  
Occupationally competent in own vocational area    
CPD updated in current year    
Functional Skills level 2 in maths, English and IT where necessary    
Safeguarding qualification at level 1 minimum    
Counselling qualification or experience    
Remain professional at all times    
Driving licence    
Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
