Kieran Green – STEGTA Excellence Award Winner 2022

We would like to Congratulate Kieran Green who is employed by Mott MacDonald, as he has been awarded a STEGTA Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in Civil Engineering.

Kieran is currently working towards the Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician Standard and we asked him why he chose Civil Engineering as a career:

(Kieran pictured with his Line Manager/Mentor Adam Parker and STEGTA Training Officer Saad Dawood).

“I chose a civil engineering due to the countless opportunities that are in this industry. There are many different sectors that I can explore and see which is most suited to myself.

I enjoy learning and using various specialist software. One of the software packages I use is called Synchro4D which allows me to produce construction sequencing animations. I also find it very interesting to learn about the thought and time that goes into creating the built environment.

My STEGTA Training Officer Saad Dawood has helped me massively during my apprenticeship. Saad is very approachable and provides answers to the questions I have. He has always kept me on track, ensuring I am progressing at the right pace to complete my Apprenticeship in time.

I have been part of a few similar projects where the aim is to 3D model an entire building from laser scan data. As I have been part of a number of these, I have had more responsibility each time and have been able to see my progress on the 3D modelling software.

Once I have completed my Level 3 Apprenticeship, I intend to continue in my role as a Technician as it is something I really enjoy. If I did wish to progress to a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship, I always have the possibility to do this in the future.”
